Spoolman
Spoolman stays your only inventory. The station finds, creates and links spools and updates their remaining weight.
SpoolTag Manager is a network spool station: a scale, an NFC reader/writer and a web interface, connected directly to Spoolman. Place a spool on the scale, read its tag, and its remaining weight is updated in Spoolman.
Spoolman keeps track of every spool, but only as long as someone keeps it up to date. Weighing spools, typing in weights and searching for the right entry by hand takes time, so the inventory drifts away from what is on the shelf.
The load cell measures the gross weight. The empty spool weight from Spoolman gives the filament that is left.
The station reads the NFC tag on the spool and finds the matching spool in Spoolman.
The remaining weight goes to Spoolman. A blank NFC sticker becomes a new spool in Spoolman and a TigerTag on the spool.
Every tag write is shown to you and confirmed first.

Through the OctoPrint-Spoolman plugin: choose which spool is loaded in which tool, and the spool location in Spoolman becomes the printer name.
A responsive web interface for phone, tablet and desktop, in light and dark theme. It runs on your own network: no app and no cloud account.
Working prototype. All V1 workflows are implemented in the firmware; hardware acceptance tests are in progress.
Built on the ESP32 with an MFRC522 NFC reader and an HX711 load cell.
